Private Pilot Licence

A Private Pilot Licence allows you to fly single-engie, single pilot non-high-performance aircraft in daytime, in Visual Flight Rules (VFR) weather conditions. You can fly aircraft designed to take up to 4 persons. Ratings such as the night rating and instrument rating cab be added to this licence to provide additional privileges.

A Category 3 Medical is required to hold the licence.

The Transport Canada Private Pilot Course requires minimums of 45 hours flight time (of which at least 17 hours must be dual instruction) and 40 hours ground school, prior to issuance of a licence.

These are minimums, and in all but rare instances, a student pilot will require more flying time to achieve the proficiency necessary to pass the flight test. The Ontario average to obtain a Private Pilot Licence recently has been 62 hours.

Training is conducted on our single engine fleet of Cessna 150 and 172 aircraft. Have a look at our fleet
