Multi Engine Rating

Program Description

Our multi-engine and multi-IFR programs provide excellence in training. We aim to develop competency and confidence in real-world operations. The successful pilot will be able to rent an aircraft and fly in complex airspace at the Ottawa International Airport and on OFC coordinated trips to California or Florida.

The Ottawa Flying club has been offering multi-engine training for over 50 years and is fortunate to have four senior instructors who are passionate about training. Their experience with complex multi-engine aircraft in a busy international airport environment and availability 7 days per week allow training to be completed within 7 days normally.

Our Pilot Examiner is Gerry Thompson. He is the most experienced PE in Eastern Ontario with many years of corporate aviation and flight training experience and has a strong desire to see students learn and succeed.

The Ottawa Flying Club offers advanced training in multi engine aircraft operations in the Beechcraft Duchess aircraft. This well maintained airplanes are equipped with either the Garmin 430 IFR GPS and a fixed card SADF . Approximately 7 to 10 hours are required for this rating, depending on previous flight experience and proficiency. Our professional instructors will be pleased to customize the training to your needs.

Program of Study

The first step is to meet with the CFI. He will review your requirements and work with you to identify the appropriate instructor to meet your timeline and availability. The aircraft and instructor will be booked in advance to meet your schedule.

Training starts with ground briefings to direct the students study of the aircraft POH and operating procedures. The Precision Flight Controls Simulator is an excellent tool to practice procedures and hone skills. Then it’s into the Beechcraft Duchess for 7-10 hours of fast paced learning!
