COLLEGE PROGRAM FLIGHT TRAINING TIMELINE

First Semester

During this intense fast-paced first semester, students will complete the Private Pilot ground school and most of the Private Pilot flight training. Flying 3 times a week students will reach the dual cross country stage by the end of the semester. The dual cross country is a prerequisite for entry to the Commercial Pilot ground school in the 2nd semester.

Second Semester

During the second semester, students will complete their Private Pilot flight training and get an excellent start with their Commercial Pilot flight training with the completion of their night rating and the 300 nautical mile cross country. Students will also complete the Commercial Pilot ground school during this semester.

*Note: it is expected that students continue their flying into the summer in order to complete the flying requirements of this semester.

Third Semester

While building on previous flight training, students accumulate the knowledge, skills and flying time to complete their Commercial Pilot Licence and Multi-Engine rating. Students will then be able to focus on one of the 3 specializations in the 4th semester.

Fourth Semester

In the final term, students can choose between three different courses of specialization: Flight instructing, Multi Engine-IFR, or a Float rating. Each one of these choices offers students with opportunities for direct entry jobs with employers. They will finish the program with about 250 hours of flight time and be a licensed Commercial Pilot with one (or all three) of the specializations chosen. For students choosing the float rating, the OFC recommends completing this training during the summer between the second and third semesters.
