The Ottawa Flying Club offers the following licenses and ratings:

• Private Pilot Licence
• Night Rating
• Commercial Licence
• Multi Engine Rating
• Instrument Rating
• Float Plane Rating

Although ratings can be completed in a different order, the Licenses are completed in order. The Private must be completed before any other license or rating. The Private Pilot License is the foundation, on which ratings can be added on, with training. Click on the links above for more information on each course.

The Ottawa Flying Club also offers recurrency training on any of these ratings as well as type checkouts on Club aircraft.

Flying is something you have to have a passion for. Not anyone can say they can't wait for that moment when the wheels leave the ground and you are doing something that a person has always dreamed of doing. How many people can say that they fly over the Grand Canyon, or the wheat fields of Saskatchewan or the beauty of Lake Superior as the pilot in command? You have not lived until you have soared off into sunsets you can't even begin to image. Or the feeling of looking out over the world at night from 9,000 feet and seeing the lights of Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto or New York. But perhaps the greatest feeling of being a pilot is the absolute freedom you feel. You are on top of YOUR world. The sky IS the limit. And coming in on finals in the last waining moments of the day and knowing that in the morning you get to get up and do it all over again, I can't think of a better job in the world.......

The next Private Pilot's Licence Ground School will start 20 July 2010 at 18:30 in the lower class room at OFC, 20 Lindbergh Private, Ottawa, and will run each Tuesday evening for 18 weeks.

This ground school class is required for anyone wishing to earn a Transport Canada Private Pilot's Licence and is highly recommended for the Recrational Pilot's Licence. No prior knowledge is required to take the class. You will require the standard student pilot kit including "From the Ground UP" and the associated workbooks. The kit can be purchased from Dispatch.

Please register for this class as seating is limited. If you haven't already given your name to Dispatch, please call them at 613-523-2142 or e-mail dispatch@ofc.ca. Dispatch will be calling those who have already expressed interest. In any case, it would be a good idea to confirm your attendance ahead of time.

The cost for attendance is $350.00 + HST. The Study Kit is sold separately and costs $324.95 + HST.

The Ottawa Flying Club has qualified and instructors and aircraft to conduct all levels of training. All licences and ratings are for aeroplanes.
